Steps

Step 1:  Get to Know Yourself

You begin by taking a battery of four assessment tests (total time…little more than an hour) to assess your skills, personality, background, successes, interests and values.

Step 2:
You the “Product”...Create your Unique Personal “Pitch” (UPP).

Next you meet with your coach, and begin the process of identifying new ways to think about yourself, ultimately molding what you have learned into your “UPP”.

Step 3:
Explore Career Options and Identify Your Goals.
Based upon the information developed in Steps 1 & 2, we will guide you on a focused exploration of possible career options through the use of various research sources and one-on-one conversations.

Step 4:
Identify and Target Specific Industries, Functions, Employers, and Jobs.

Researching and identifying a potential career target or job function as well as industries and employers of interest is critical to the success of your job search. We will provide guidance and support as you explore the “world of work” on your way to making informed and thoughtful choices.

Step 5:
Develop an Impactful Resume and Job Communication Materials that Result In Interviews.
We will guide you in the preparation of your resume and related job search communication materials including marketing letters, cover letters and thank you notes all designed to compel prospective employers to interview you.

Step 6:  Design Your Job Search Strategy and Marketing Plan.

Using “best search practices”, we will help you identify and determine the best resources that are available for your campaign and how to use them effectively. Such resources might include social media, Internet job boards, print ads, recruiters, and strategic networking.

Step 7:  Master Your “Elevator Pitch” along with Other Techniques.
The ability to clearly articulate who you are, what you do, and why you are the best person for the job within the first 2 minutes of a meeting is essential if you plan to beat out the competition for a job.  Like the perfect photograph, we work with you to hone an engaging and powerful pitch.

Step 8Learn Networking and  Strategic Marketing Techniques.
The way to create opportunities, especially in today’s job market, is through strategic networking. The problem is that most people think that networking consists of telling as many people as possible what they do, and handing out as many business cards as they can. They waste the few precious moments they have with new and existing contacts by focusing on themselves. We will teach you how to reach out to personal friends, family and relationships, plus use social networking sites such as LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook to build a productive network of contacts.

Step 9:  Additional Skills Critical to the Job Search.
Contact management organization, follow-up, and consultative questioning... knowing how to effectively use these tools and learning how to sell yourself to get the meeting or the interview is critical to your job search success.   It takes more than just sending off resumes.

Step 10:  Ace the Job Interview.

Learn how to ace all steps in the interview and be seen as the best candidate for the job. You will learn strategies to beat the competition and how to negotiate to get what you need and deserve...the best offer.  This includes practice videotaped interviews in preparation for networking meetings, career fairs, and interviews with potential employers.
